A city with rich and old history is Pushkar, a desert town. Pushkar is a famous Hindu pilgrimage site with many temples. This includes the world famous Jagatpita Brahma Mandir. Pushkar is located very close to Ajmer, at about 11 kms distance. It is known to be one of the oldest cities in India. The Pushkar Mela or Fair draws tourists from across the world for a visit and to participate in its various events, over a period of 5 days.
Due to its location in the Desert, Pushkar is also famous for its Camel Safari. The main source of livelihood for the local population is agriculture and tourism.
